Had a lovely dinner in Jodpur last night. Kimi recommended it and it had a lovely atmosphere. It also cost about as much as drinks at the hotel - the hotels charge international, and I mean international, prices for things so there is an advantage to going off campus. The disadvantage shows up later if you can't retain your meal so you do take a risk. In this case, Kimi had taken other clients there so we had a pretty good sense that it was okay. He is spending almost two weeks with us so having us get sick in his car is not in his interests either. Another curious thing is that, like everyone else here, Kimi was likely getting a kickback from the proprietor for bringing us anywhere. That is the way they do it here and it doesn't mean the place is bad, it just means that he is getting a finder's fee. This restaurant could also have been recommended by the tour agency - I was not clear who recommended it - but they would have got a kick back too. For a restaurant or any other proprietor that is just the way you get customers - and I must admit I kind of like it as I know that if I got sick then Kimi or the tour operator would have something to say about that.
The other thing we did today was see a really spectacular Jain temple in the hills around Ranockpur. Will let the pictures talk for themselves.

Our India

Cameron, Chris and Heather will travel to Varanasi, in Uttar Pradesh, during the 3 days before Alex arrives. We meet Alex and then set out from Delhi in the north. We travel mainly in Rajasthan, in what is called the Golden Triangle. We will visit the Taj Mahal in Agra, Jodhpur, Jaipur, often called the Pink City, Udaipur with a Palace that sits in the middle of a lake, and Pushkar, which every year has a big camel fair. Then Alex and Chris return home to university. Heather and Cameron continue and tour through parts of the south, starting in Chennai and Madurai, both in Tamil Nadu. We drive through the Western Ghats arriving in Cochin and the backwaters of Kerala. Mumbai ends our trip and home to Canada.
